On Set

Working on set for Cali Dreamers Disaster or Stupendous! Everyone in the cast of Cali Dreamers was hands on and bought ideas for there characters and really did there homework. Which just alleviated some unwanted stress I’d been carrying in my gut the week before our first shoot day! I arrived on set aka our DP’s house at 9am to start setting up and all my crew started to roll in within the hour. I’ve directed plays for my church in the past and theatre scenes for school but this was my first time as head honcho on a film set and my heart was beating at a rapid pace. I wanted the day to go smooth and the cast to enjoy themselves and feel comfortable enough to give there best performance. So of course I supplied plenty of donuts, candy, fruit and drinks….and it worked! The day flew by, we actually finished ahead of schedule and I ended up calling in “Jasmine” aka Shaifali Ratti in earlier--she came immediately camera ready! Way to go Shaifali! Of course we had a few problems on set I mean hey who ever heard of a day on set without a little drama! Our major dilemma was our lighting issues but we worked it out. Thanks to Sarah and Alpa consistently keeping an eye open for any shadows I missed!
Oh and if you thought our snacks were great you must of forgot about our lunch… DOMINOS PIZZA mmm yea! In the words of Jenny’s trainer Kim “Everyone deserves a break!”
Our second day of shooting…Went even smoother- shout outs to Roe Moore and her filming expertise! We ended up shooting at my apartment complex free of charge which was a major blessing! We shot majority of our outdoor scenes early in the morning to stay out of my managers hair! Even though he did tell us to keep the volume down a few times and we did…well we tried. Come on now its hard enough to perform with a live audience aka noisy neighbors but to keep the volume low while shooting outdoor scenes with LA wind it just doesn’t work out!
Our lunch on day two ended up being snacks because we wrapped so early that everyone was content with breakfast and there was no need to send Sasha on a Subway run!
Overall I rate this experience marvelous !

I promise you'll laugh at least once;)

Over the past few weeks we've edited... tweeked... cleaned up...tuned up... and FINALLY we have a finished product! Tomorrow the first episode of Cali Dreamers will air and let me just say it has been a delightful challenge! Cali Dreamers is my baby that I got to see cry, crawl, fall, and grow....aka my first project I directed, wrote, produced & performed in(whoo thats a mouthful)!!! It tells an amusing story of the day to day challenges for Tykeisha and her girls in a raw mocumentary style. So I hope you all tune in tomorrow for a great show!...I promise you'll laugh at least once;)

Check out some Awesome Musician's in the Cast!

Check out ellagsell.com for some upbeat dance songs and some beautiful ballads .....“Ella G’Sell has the kind of voice that makes a difference. In the same way that Robert Smith of the cure, or Morrissey have the voice of no other, so does Ella. Both warm and dark, her melodies express honesty and passion.” –The Cat Club

Check out Melissa and her Sister Michelle (Twins) Singing at House of Blues http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vf_8cXDIVuk or check out her website www.michellemacedomusic.com. Michelle has an amazing Indie Pop sound that anyone can jam to!

Check out Sasha Morfaw singing "Hello Love" an original track from Sasha Morfaw on http://www.myspace.com/sashamorfaw ....Sasha really shows off her vocals in this song and leaves you wanting more!"Hello Love" really captures the euphoria and butterflies you feel when you first realize you're in love!

Google Us...Baby!

The cast is one dynamic group of individuals...all are working actors and are involved in several areas of the industry...whether it be writing, producing there own music, getting involved in crew work, or doing stand up comedy, whatever you can think of they're doing it! Most recently I booked a series regular on a Disney web series and a Leading Role in a "Educational Industrial" being distributed to schools across America. The oh so talented Ella G' Sell will be playing the role of Sarah ...but she's not only an actress but also a talented musician! Emily Brownell aka Jenny the "hardworking dancer" has been on Fox TVs "Fringe" and has studied with The Upright Citizens Brigade in New York. Emily is currently writing a script of her very own and collaborating with some awesome industry professionals on her project. Delpaneaux Wills has worked on Days of Our lives the new ABC family show "Make it or Break it" and several costar roles on Comedy Central and will star in episode 3 of Cali Dreamers. Dylan Ramsey has co stared on "Nip Tuck" and  NCIS and had a supporting role in the SyFy thriller "Swamp Shark". Alissa Bica just booked a role on "One Life to Live"....Shaifali Ratti just worked on the film "Once Upon a Time"...Elizabeth Mercer just booked a lead in "All Blown Up"....Jon Gothard studied at Cal Arts and has worked in several theatre productions in and out of LA. Sarah Morris has appeared on the hit show "I didn't know I was pregnant" and received reviews on "The Soup" from her performance..Alpa Banker just worked on the film "Wedding Nights"...Sasha Morfaw just got signed to a top theatrical agent...Melissa Macedo just booked a series regular in a "Disney Webisode"!!!

Kudos to the CD's in LA

Cali Dreamers was a major learning experience casting wise...I had over 1,000 actors submit on actors access,I looked at 500 or more demo reels, scheduled over 100 to audition, Had about 40 request different times and days, and cast about 8 actors to complete the cast of "Cali Dreamers".  I dare you to do the math on how many hours I set in front of the computer....ALOT. But it was all worth it I met alot of talented actors and got to see the casting process through an entire different view... I got to see what my fellow actors bring to the table and I got to see who and why the people who booked the job...booked the job! And to all you actors out there go in do your best hit your mark and forget about it because you honestly don't know what happened in the room before you came in or after and it doesn't really concern you so why worry about it. Happy Tuesday
